Alison Saar in conversation at Weatherspoon

Posted on November 03, 2019

On Thursday, Nov. 7, artist Alison Saar will join Weatherspoon Art Museum Director Nancy Doll for a conversation on her life and work.

Saar’s striking sculptures and prints draw inspiration from a diverse range of cultural backgrounds to explore the African diaspora and black female identity. Her work, often in series, examines the African American American experience, drawing together the personal and political to tell stories of tragedy and defiance.

The conversation will highlight an exhibition on Saar’s prints that opened last Saturday, “Mirror, Mirror: The Prints of Alison Saar from the Collections of Jordan D. Schnitzer and His Family Foundation.” It will be at the Weatherspoon until Feb. 23.
