042711NewsAndNotes_AustenAre you a “Jane-ite?” If so, you may already know that this year marks the 200th anniversary of Jane Austen’s “Sense and Sensibility,” the first novel she published.

English professor Jim Evans’ graduate class “Austen and Some Predecessors” focused on Austen, her times and this novel, over the course of semester. Dr. Evans and the class, along with The Friends of the UNCG Libraries, will sponsor an informal tea and reading in celebration of the anniversary on Tuesday, May 3, 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Faculty Center.

The students as well as some faculty, staff and community members will read favorite passages from the novel. The library has put together a blogpost, http://uncgfol.blogspot.com/2011/04/sense-sensibility-quiz.html, with a quiz and information about the event.
