Talent, depth and experience.

That’s the combination that Head Coach Wes Miller has been searching for since he took the helm of UNCG’s men’s basketball team in 2011. And this season, he’s found just that.

The Spartans’ 14-5 start is the best in 21 years, and their 5-1 record in conference play has moved them to the top of the Southern Conference standings.

Miller and company are coming off a big week in which they notched two conference wins on the road. On Jan. 12, UNCG toppled East Tennessee State University – an impressive win against a conference powerhouse. A couple days later, the Spartans beat Virginia Military Institute 91-82.

“Our guys found a way to win today on the road,” Miller said after the VMI game. “To come out of the week with two road wins is a hard thing to do, and our guys gutted it out this week with wins at ETSU and VMI.”

UNCG returns home for three of its next four games, beginning Thursday, Jan. 19, when the Spartans face off against Mercer. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Greensboro Coliseum.

Admission is free for students with a valid UNCG student ID, and the first 750 students at Thursday’s game will receive a ‘90s-style snapback hat.

Tickets for individual conference games range from $10 to $15. To purchase single-game tickets, contact the UNCG Ticket Office at 336-334-3250.
