Featured this week: Dr. Svi Shapiro – Lynda Kellam
Dr. Svi Shapiro (Education) was invited by Tel Hai College in northern Israel to lecture to faculty and students. He spoke to more than 60 people about the moral, social and spiritual dimensions of education. He focused particularly on the role of education in a democracy and the way education may promote a culture of peace and non-violence. His visit was in connection to Shapiro’s recent book, “Educating Youth for a World Beyond Violence” (PalgraveMacMillan). He also met with administrators at the college who are interested in developing student exchanges with UNCG. Tel Hai College is an institution of 3200 students close to the Lebanese and Syrian borders with Israel.
