Dialogues about change, community, and culture: A celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month

Posted on September 12, 2022

UNCG students come dressed up to a fiesta celebrating the end of the CHANCE camp for Latino students.

National Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated from September 15 to October 15. UNC Greensboro will host events all through the coming weeks for students to bond over shared cultural experiences and learn from others.

President Ronald Reagan first declared September 15 through October 15 as Hispanic Heritage Month in 1988. UNCG will explore the question of how the community has changed over time and impacted the Americas — and the influence of ethnicity, immigration, gender, class, sexual orientation, and geography.

This provides the Latino community and its allies an opportunity to reflect on Latino identity development within the broader social, political, and economical context in order to gain insight into its future.
