Over half of the students enrolled at UNCG are taking advantage of the financial aid opportunities available to help pay for the cost of a college education. However, many students think that they will not qualify for financial assistance, so they do not bother applying. There are many opportunities for financial aid available, and the Financial Aid Office wants to help students take advantage of them. Financial Aid Awareness Week provide an opportunity to raise their awareness.
The UNCG Financial Aid Office will have information tables set up in the Feb. 10-11 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
Students may also receive assistance in filing their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on FAFSA Day. This will be held on Saturday, Feb. 13, throughout the state. UNCG will not be a FAFSA Day site but there will be other places in the Greensboro area. Students may visit College Foundation of North Carolina at www.cfnc.org for information on locations of the event, required documentation, and registration for FAFSA day.
The office notes that students may begin filing their FAFSA for the 2010-2011 school year right now. Students must file a FAFSA each school year they are planning to receive financial aid, even if their aid consists only of student loans.
The FAFSA priority deadline for UNCG is March 1.
