a large vessel in a fire

This exhibition brings together the research of UNCG scholars from the School of Art and the UNCG Libraries on histories of women, entrepreneurship, and beer. Open May 20-31, the work displayed celebrates the innovation and artistry of beer vessels and beer brewing.

The featured Zulu and North Carolina ceramicic vessels remind us that, on both sides of the Atlantic, beer has been an important part of food culture, and also a domain of women, prior to industrial brewing.

An opening reception is planned for May 20, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with the artist’s panel 5:30-6:30, at Greensboro Project Space.

The event and exhibition features ceramic artists and scholars Jabulile Nala, Thembile Nala, Clive Sithole, and Dr. Elizabeth Perrill
