Governor’s Awards for Excellence call for nominations

Posted on February 19, 2019

Nominations for the 2019 Governor’s Awards for Excellence has begun. This award is the highest honor a state employee may receive for dedicated service to the State of North Carolina and its citizens. The award gives us an opportunity to recognize exemplary state employees whose service and contributions go beyond the call of duty and make a positive difference in the lives of their fellow North Carolinians.

The award recipients will be publicly recognized at a ceremony and a reception for the winners and their family, friends and co-workers. The date for the ceremony is to be set at a later time but will be communicated as soon as it is known.

This Program is a wonderful opportunity to reward our most outstanding employees in a meaningful way.  Although it is certainly important to show appreciation to all employees, it is especially important to recognize those individuals who lead by example and go well beyond their normal job requirements.

It would be wonderful if we had representation from UNC Greensboro this year, so I encourage each of you to show your support of the Governor’s Award for Excellence Program by considering nominating deserving colleagues for this high honor!

The deadline for nominations is March 18, 2019.

The nomination process is online again this year. You can find more information about the program, award nomination categories, the online nomination form as well as the nomination checklist at excellenceawards.nc.gov. You can also view the profile of previous award winners here. Nominations will be reviewed and final candidates will be submitted by Human Resources.
