It’s been a historic year for UNCG. The university kicked off its 125th anniversary celebration, launched a new strategic plan and continued to take “Giant Steps” – from new campus facilities to athletic championships to emerging community partnerships and more.
As the campus begins to quiet down and the year comes to an end, here’s a look back at some of the top moments from 2017.

The UNC Board of Governors approved a proposal for the establishment of a Millennial Campus designation, which will allow for the creation of unique public-private partnerships.

The men’s basketball team had a record-breaking season: 25 wins, a Southern Conference regular season title and a trip to the National Invitation Tournament.

Students, faculty, staff and community members constructed two wetlands on campus. In addition to improving water quality and biotic diversity, the wetlands serve as a living laboratory for students participating in undergraduate research.

Students moved into Spartan Village II, the university’s new mixed-use project featuring two residence halls and 26,000 square feet of retail space.
