Leadership development program for faculty EDI leaders

Posted on October 10, 2022

Students and faculty put their desks in a circle for a close-knit discussion in the School of Education.

In partnership with the Center for Creative Leadership, UNCG is offering a custom leadership program for mid- to senior-level faculty (all types) to build the skills and networks that support success in leadership positions. CCL is an internationally renowned expert in leadership training, with whom we have partnered for faculty and staff development initiatives.

As our campus moves to innovate and reinvent new ways forward, leadership development for faculty is a critical investment. We are also committed to the development of campus leaders who will advance equity, diversity, and inclusion, and support embedded inclusive excellence on our campus.

For the third year, the Offices of the Chancellor and Provost are pleased to provide faculty this professional development opportunity, which is offered at no cost to participants. The program will begin with a two-day intensive session offered during the winter intersession, and will include a virtual follow up session, executive coaching, and a personalized assessment. There will also be on-campus networking and learning opportunities offered.

Below are the session dates with CCL. Participants must be available to attend all of these sessions (for the entirety of times indicated) to qualify for the program:

  • Thursday, January 5, 2023, 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m. (CCL headquarters in Greensboro)
  • Friday, January 6, 2023, 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m. (CCL headquarters in Greensboro)
  • Friday, March 17, 2023, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. (virtual meeting)

To self-nominate, please complete this short application form by November 1 at 10 a.m. Preference will be given to full-time mid- and senior-level faculty (of all types) who are currently in leadership positions (including faculty governance), and those with experience or strong interest in advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion within higher education. If you have questions, please contact Andrea Hunter, Chancellor’s Campus Climate Fellow, and Waiyi Tse, Chief of Staff.

As previously announced, the Chancellor has also sponsored staff professional development opportunities (also through CCL). These are being administered through Human Resources. More information may be found here.
