A legendary opera soprano, an original “Hamilton” cast member, and a Tony-nominated choreographer, among other renowned artists, make up the 2019-20 UNC Greensboro Concert and Lecture Series (UCLS).

The season will open Sept. 26 with a lecture from visual and performance artist Nick Cave and will end April 9 with Daveed Diggs, an award-winning actor, writer, rapper, and producer best known for originating the dual roles of “Thomas Jefferson” and “Marquis de Lafayette” in Broadway’s “Hamilton.”

Season headliner Renée Fleming is likely the most important and celebrated soprano of our time. She is a four-time Grammy Award winner, earned a Tony Award nomination for her performance in Broadway’s “Carousel,” and is the only classical artist ever to sing the national anthem at the Super Bowl (2014). She will perform Feb. 26 at UNCG Auditorium.

Piano duo Anderson & Roe will perform Oct. 1, and Camille A. Brown & Dancers will perform Feb. 8. The date for visual artist Ann Hamilton’s lecture is to be determined.

Lectures from Cave and Hamilton are presented in partnership with the Falk Visiting Artist Endowment.

In addition to the performances, lectures, and exhibits, the series also provides invaluable student master-class opportunities with the artists.

Financial support for the series is provided by presenting sponsors Joseph M. Bryan, Jr., and The Cemala Foundation; hospitality sponsor Quaintance-Weaver Restaurants and Hotels; and underwriting sponsor Well-Spring.

Season subscriptions will go on sale July 15, and single-event tickets will be available later in the summer.
