Next Generation Website Project completes design phase

Posted on April 27, 2021

This month, in coordination with the Cross Functional Marketing and Communications (CFMC) team – which includes marketing communications leaders from the colleges and schools, divisions and departments, and in partnership with web technology leads – the Next Generation Website Project completed the design phase of the new University website.

The initial phase developed 40 different designs that included desktop and mobile versions. To view the designs, visit http://go.uncg.edu/web-design-system. Many thanks to the CFMC, web tech leads, the Faculty Senate, Staff Senate, Deans, and many more campus partners who provided feedback throughout the design process.

Next steps include the development of the website’s WordPress theme, the first round of quality assurance testing, and content structure development for the various webpages within the new uncg.edu information architecture between now and October, with the goal of launching the new website in December. More information and guidance will be provided to help execute this important and complex project.

The Web and Mobile Operating Committee recently approved an information architecture change following feedback from the Faculty Senate and College of Visual and Performing Arts to include  an “Arts” page in the navigation. While the committee continues to work through the process of adding the new page, please know the webpage designs do not reflect this change as the designs were finalized before the committee’s decision. However, when the new site launches, the navigation will include an “Arts” page to help call attention to the world-class arts that UNCG provides to our students and the greater Piedmont Triad community.

More information about the project can be reviewed here.
