  • Assistant Professor of History Denisha Jashari was awarded the Distinguished Dissertation Award from the Council of Graduate Schools (CGS) and ProQuest for her dissertation, “Cartographies of Conflict: Political Culture and Urban Protest in Santiago, Chile, 1872-1994.” She received the award in the Humanities and Fine Arts category during the CGS Annual Meeting in New Orleans in December 2021.   • Shawn O’Neil, of the Academic Achievement Center, was the 2021 recipient of the College Reading and Learning Association’s 2021 Robert Griffith Award for Long and Outstanding Service. He received the award for over 10 years of exemplary service to the field of Learning Assistance, including guiding the International Tutor Training Program Certification process, publishing revised standards for tutor training, and serving as a mentor and trainer for many young professionals in the organization.
  • Parking Operations & Campus Access Management, in coordination with the Student Government Association, conducted the Food for Fines citation forgiveness food drive this November. For the week and a half leading up towards the Thanksgiving holiday, individuals could bring non-perishable food donations to the POCAM Office in exchange for forgiveness of select parking citations. In all, 403 items were collected, weighing in at 333 pounds. 49 citations were forgiven, for a collective dollar amount of $1,480. Donated food items were delivered to the Spartan Open Pantry.
  • In Fall 2021, faculty usage of Starfish increased compared to the previous year, 13.84% and a number of technology improvements are underway. Winter Term courses begin Dec. 13; flags, kudos, and select referrals will remain available for instructors to issue to students enrolled in Winter Term courses. Online appointment scheduling will remain available over the winter break to all faculty and staff who post availability on their Starfish calendars. Faculty and staff who will be away from campus during this time should remove all calendar availability prior to leaving to prevent scheduling conflicts.
