With less than one week before the campaign wrap-up event, the UNCG State Employees Combined Campaign (SECC) is approximately $45,000 away from reaching its goal of $199,999 raised for charities.
On Monday, campaign chair DiAnne Borders sent a message encouraging faculty and staff to give back through the SECC.
“The critical significance of the State Employees Combined Campaign (SECC) has been highlighted by recent events in our state,” wrote Borders, noting that North Carolinians in the eastern part of the state are still dealing with the devastation caused by Hurricane Matthew. “Clearly, they will need the support of many of the charities supported by SECC for quite some time.”
Borders also mentioned the drought that continues to impact our neighbors in western North Carolina, as well as local news reports that highlight the challenges – such as poverty, homelessness and domestic violence – in our own community.
“If you have not yet had the opportunity to pledge, we hope you will identify the cause(s) that speaks to your heart,” she wrote.
Through the SECC, UNCG faculty and staff can select from more than 1,000 charities across the state, nation and world. Pledges can be made online using ePledge or via the paper pledge form. The ePledge site can be accessed at ncsecc.org.
