Soon UNCG will light up once again for the holiday season. A variety of upcoming festivities include the resplendent festival of lights, several charity events, and, of course, the return of UNCG’s grand tradition of luminaires on campus.

  • November 21: Harvest Home Choral Concert: Join UNCG choirs in the beautiful First Presbyterian Church for an evening of festive and celebratory music. 5 pm, 617 N Elm Street, free entry.
  • November 22: Spartan Open Pantry Thanksgiving meal: For the 12th year, Wesley-Luther will provide a Thanksgiving meal, free of charge, for UNCG staff, faculty, and students, no questions asked. This year, it is to-go to ensure safety. To register to pick up a meal or volunteer to help out, see the link here.
  • November 29-30: Faculty & Staff Appreciation sale at the UNCG bookstore. Take an extra 10% off anything in the store these days, for a total 30% discount.
  • December 1: Angel Tree donation deadline: Help local families in need with donations to the Staff Senate Angel Tree. Donations can be made via the Amazon wishlist or in person by contacting Allysa Robinson at awbirche@uncg.edu or 336-214-4427.
  • December 3: Festival of Lights: Greensboro’s annual holiday tradition, back for 2021. UNCG-related events include performances by the UNCG Horn Choir and Tuba Band, a performance by 1aChord at the tree lighting, a UNCG photo booth, a BFA senior exhibition at the Greensboro Project Space, an Art Market on the street, and student film screenings across the street from GPS. 5:30 pm, Elm Street, downtown Greensboro.
  • December 3-27: Tinsel Town: Downtown Greensboro’s Tinsel Town features 50 trees decorated by local groups, including three UNCG trees, themed for athletics, alumni, and Light the Way. Stop by for a walk-through of the trees any day until the 27th, and make sure to vote for your favorite five tree designs; the five winners will have a donation made in their name  to a non-profit of their choice. 9 am-9 pm, LeBauer Park.
  • December 4: Downtown holiday parade: Greensboro’s 40-year tradition returns, with themed floats, music, and dance. UNCG’s singing trio 1achord, recent semifinalists on America’s Got Talent, are parade grand marshals. Spiro and the Spirit Squad will make appearances. 12-2 pm, downtown Greensboro.
  • December 7: Angel Tree wrapping party: Join the Staff Senate Service Committee to help wrap donated gifts as part of the Angel Tree program, to go to families in need during the holiday season. There are two time slots, each with limited attendance, so make sure to sign up in advance. Nursing & Instructional Building room 510, 10-12.
