Sixty-eight fifth grade students at the Moss Street Partnership School will celebrate with family and friends as they transition from elementary to middle school.

This is the first in-person “Moving Up” promotion ceremony for MSPS since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

The celebration will be held Friday, June 3 at 9 a.m. at MSPS in Reidsville, North Carolina. Students will hear from Dr. Randy Penfield, dean of UNC Greensboro’s School of Education. Their fifth grade teachers will present them with promotion certificates and end-of-year awards.

In 2020 and 2021, MSPS held a drive-thru celebration in the parking lot. Teachers presented certificates and a memory book to students as they rolled up in their decorated cars.

MSPS is a school in Rockingham County for kindergarten through fifth graders, emphasizing experiential learning that is authentic, active, learner-centered, challenging, and literacy-rich.

Students in Rockingham County are eligible to attend for free and take advantage of the school’s STEAM curriculum – science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics.
