UNCG Theatre presents biblical comedy

Posted on October 25, 2021

Somewhere in Hope, Purgatory, there is a trial to litigate the merits for the salvation of Judas Iscariot. Unfolding in a dark comedic way, this trial challenges centuries-old assumptions about the events surrounding the betrayal and death of Jesus of Nazareth.

Get ready for UNCG Theatre’s presentation of “The Last Days of Judas Iscariot,” a dark comedy by Stephen Adly Guirgis.

This production is directed by John Gulley, faculty member and coordinator of the MFA Directing Program at UNCG. The play opens at UNCG ON Nov. 4.

The Dramatists play service describes the production as: “Set in a time-bending, dark comic world between heaven and hell, ‘The Last Days of Judas Iscariot’ reexamines the plight and fate of the New Testament’s most infamous and unexplained sinner.”

The show will have six evening performances at the Pam and David Sprinkle Theatre on Nov. 4, 5, 6 and Nov. 11, 12, 13 at 7:30 p.m and two afternoon performances on Nov. 7, 14 at 2:00 p.m. The show will be available streaming online Nov. 18-20 and a Frame/Works discussion will take place via Zoom at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 22
