This month, UNC Greensboro Theatre students will perform “The Julies: A Kinda Sorta Adoption of August Strindberg’s ‘Miss Julie’” by Calley N. Anderson. The play opens at UNCG on Oct. 15 and is directed by MFA candidates Chris Gilly-Forrer and Iyanna Huffington.
The Playwright’s Center described the production as: “a meta-theatrical journey that asks an essential question of August Strindberg’s classic: who is Miss Julie? Set in multiple time periods and locations in the United States, ‘The Julies’ is an attempt to push adaptation further and create more space for questions than interpretations or answers.”
The show will have two evening performances at the Pam and David Sprinkle Theatre, on Oct. 17 and 24 at 2 p.m., and five evening performances, on Oct. 15, 16, 21, 22, and 23 at 7:30 p.m. The show will be available streaming online Nov. 4-6 and a Frame/Works discussion will take place via Zoom on Nov. 8 at 7 p.m.
