Students, faculty and staff are invited to participate in the fourth annual “Public Republic” event on Friday, September 30 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the lawn between College Avenue and the Minerva Statue.

Public Republic is an annual public reading of the entirety of Republic, Plato’s famous treatise on justice. Each of the ten books will be read out loud, preferably with dramatic flair, by volunteer readers. Book one will be read from 8-9 a.m., book two from 9-10 a.m., and so on until book ten at 6 p.m.

Everyone is welcome – those willing to read, those who would prefer to listen, those who can only stay for a bit, and those who are interested in staying to hear everything. Snacks, water and seating will be provided.

Anyone looking for more information, including instructions to sign up to volunteer as a reader, can learn more here. The more volunteers, the more fun, and the easier to reach the goal of reading the book in a day!

Any questions can be sent to Adam Rosenfeld.
